Just One Drop (The Grey Wolves 3)

Just One Drop (The Grey Wolves 3)
by Quinn Loftis
Rating 5/5

Summary
Jennifer Adams, best friend to Jacque Pierce and Sally Morgan, spicy, out spoken, a little crazy and human...or so she thought. Jen has just found out that human DNA is not the only thing that resides in her veins, she happens to share that little pesky werewolf gene, although it isn't more than just a drop. Now that she and her friends are living in Romania with Fane's pack, she is also oh so conveniently stuck with the object of her affection, the fur ball Decebel.

Drawn to each other by something they don't understand Jen finds herself frustrated by the lack of mating signs between her and said fur ball. Not only is she dealing with that not so un-frustrating problem, she now has been informed that because of that little drop of werewolf blood in her she is now required to attended a multi-pack gathering for un-mated wolves. This type of gathering hasn't taken place in over a century but with a shortage of females among the werewolf population the males are getting worried they won't ever find their true mates.

Meanwhile Decebel struggles with the emotions he is feeling towards Jen. He tries to keep his distance but there is just something about the mouthy blonde that keeps him coming back for more of her verbal abuse that he just can't seem to get enough of...go figure.

My Review
Let me star by saying yet another awesome book in a FANTASTIC series I have loves all of these books Quinn Loftis has a gist with her characters I feel like I know them all and I want to be their friends I want to be a part of their crazy adventures and most of all after reading these books I want a werewolf "mate" the romance and loyalty of these wolfs is to die for good if only life imitated art.
I was glad to get more information on Jen and her different situation and how it affected her and others in the pack and although she has trouble knowing when to shut up I do enjoy her quick wit and crazy schemes. I also found it very interesting the part fate has to play in all of this very very good.
When I read the first two books I was in love with Fane but when I read this Decebel sure gave him a run for his money *sigh* what a fantastic specimen of a man/wolf. his crazy protectiveness was a bit over the top sometimes but with good reason and it just made him that much hotter that he would risk everything for the women he loves.
The cliffhanger at the end was a heart breaker and know I must get my hands on the next one to find out the fates of these dear characters and I can only hope that things will go according to planned. If you have not read this series yet I suggest you DO IT and do it now!

They hunt werewolves. When unwitting victim, Nathaniel Strider, wanders into one of their full moon pursuits, Camille and Dr. Bennett believe they have found a specimen for their study. Yet beneath the irresistible exterior, Nathaniel is transforming into a flesh-tearing monster, and as each experiment fails, Camille loses another inch of her soul to him. In a month’s time, she must face the prospect of destroying the boy who has stolen her heart.

My Review:
I was not sure about this book at first as it is the scary kind of werewolf that will change and attack you and not the kind of story were they are warm and protective. It was a nice change of pace and an interesting take on the concept.
Sometimes throughout the story I found Camille's obsession with Strider (Nathanial) was a bit over the top I mean I get it he is hot you are attracted to him but it was a bit much...that being said they did have some cute moments together.
I wanted to hate Strider but the more I read about him the more I actually feel in love with him there was a reason he was the way he was and I was very pleased with the character development of him he went from a womanizing Ahole to someone I ws cheering for and felt bad for.
I dont have much more to say about this one it was  a good overall read. I must sat that I do enjoy  the other type of werewolf story over this one, but Iam not sad that I read it.

Girl In The Arena

Girl In The Arena
by Lise Haines
Rating:

Summary;
It’s a fight to the death—on live TV—when a gladiator’s daughter steps into the arena

Lyn is a neo-gladiator’s daughter, through and through.  Her mother has made a career out of marrying into the high-profile world of televised blood sport, and the rules of the Gladiator Sports Association are second nature to their family.

Always lend ineffable confidence to the gladiator. Remind him constantly of his victories. And most importantly: Never leave the stadium when your father is dying.

The rules help the family survive, but rules—and the GSA—can also turn against you. When a gifted young fighter kills Lyn’s seventh father, he also captures Lyn’s dowry bracelet, which means she must marry him...

Lise Haines’ debut novel is a mesmerizing look at a world addicted to violence—a modern world that’s disturbingly easy to imagine.

My Review:
This book caught my eye right away I love all things ancient Rome including the gladiators. I found this to be an excellent concept, a gladiator society in our modern day world. I found it to be thought provoking it was cool to think of how easy it would be for this to be true since we are a society built on power, social status and a lust for violence. Overall a very cool idea!
The GSA (Gladiator Sports Association) owned by Ceacar`s Inc. (very cleaver) was summed up nicely for me in one quote:
``Provide a new form of sport slash entertainment slash battle that would capture the American ethos on a scale equal to the NFL``
but like all big companies ceacaers  has their own agenda and their gladiators and families end up basically owned and operated by them.
Lyn (daughter of seven gladiators) is a great strong and interdependent women, she takes the weight of the world on her shoulders. Things only get worse when Uber(a gladiator) kills her seventh father, who Lyn feels is the only father she ever loved, in the ring and gains her dowery bracelet . How can she be expected to marry the man who killed her father. I feel like all through the book she struggled with her admiration and understand of the only thing she has ever known and her disgust with how things are done. I think she wanted to understand it better but shut it down at the same time I like that pull that she felt and mostly because of her crazy mother and disabled brother that is alot of weight for one person and I think she handled herself well considering,
I started to feel bad for Uber(what a ridiculous name) he was just trying to survive in the only world he has ever known, he just wants to be the good guy and help Lyn but she would never let him, and he knows that. As much as I love a good strong female I was kinda rooting for her to just marry him and see what happens *Sigh* but I know why she did what she did.
The ending surprised me and I wish it didnt end so abruptly so i could learn more about the events after the fight, but as the saying goes always leave them wanting more!!!
Overall I was very happy with this book good characters, good concept and good writing.
Now just because I can I will make a shout out to my favorite show...Spartacus since it ties in to the theme nicely!!(Oh and he aint bad on the eyes either lol)

My Review:
First of all I want to say I love this cover I know you shouldn't  judge a book by its cover but to be totally honest I usually do, not that it stops me from reading a book trust me I have read some books with some pretty terrible covers, but I tend to be drawn to the ones that are beautiful, dark, or interesting and  this was one of them. I also was pleased when I found the picture on the inside of the cover jacket, if I were only 16 again I would have hung it on my wall lol.
I don't know what it is about water but it makes everything look so magical, I really like this!

At first I wasn't really sure about this one. I am a HUGE Amanda Hocking fan so I was excited to read this one, it started a little slow for me and I didn't think I would like it but it did pick up for me about 100 pages in  and by the time I got to the end I wanted more. The folklore and origin  of the sirens was very interesting.

As always Amanda hocking brings these characters to life I found myself very invested in Gemma and Harper and the people around them. I think I liked Harper the best I am a big sister and I understood her fight to keep her sister safe I loved how fierce her love for her family was and her need to keep them safe and fix everything was endearing. I really hope she can save Gemma and finally let herself be loved by the one boy who tolerates and understands her. Gemma was also very cool she is determined and she knows what she wants I have faith that she will defeat these terrible girls.

Overall I enjoyed this book and I will be awaiting the next installment.

Forever (Immortal series 2)

Forever (Immortal series 2)
by Laurem Burd
Rating: 3/5

My Review:
I read this book as a part of my September reading challenge, which is indie author reads, I read the first book a little while ago and I liked the concept of the story I enjoyed the different take on "vampires" and the little world they live in. I thought I would red the next book and find out what happens, the book was not terrible but it was also not a great read. I found large holes and I found a bit of it silly and over the top I read it in a night so I would call it a quick fun read. I dont have much more to say about this one so I will end with do not let me judge a book for you but if you have other books to read, read them first.

The question remains, if she fights, if she endures, who will she be, what will be left once she is back in her mates arms?

My Review:
Before I give my review on the book I just want to say that I love this cover I don't know what it is exactly but it really caught my eye it is beautiful and dangerous at the same time just awesome!!
I loved the first book of this series (Prince of Wolves) I was excited to get this one and I was not disappointed, although I must say book one was better. I think it was the repeat of another wolf trying to take Jacque, she already has a mate and they still come creeping out of the woodwork trying to take her, does the girl have beer flavored nipples (as the saying goes) or what? I know they do explain this a bit in the book and if you have read it you will know what I mean  (I don't want to give away TOO much), but she has Fane and I just want to tell those other wolves to BACK OFF!!!!
When I saw this picture I couldn't help thinking about this again, made me giggle a bit lol.
I really enjoyed the diverse group of people/werewolves in this book some kept me laughing some were brooding and sexy and some showed great courage and strength it was nice to have all these different people pulling together for one common goal. Jen (Jacque's best friend sometimes annoyed me, sometimes I wished she would just shut up, I found myself embarrassed for her, but I'm thinking that we will here more about her in book 3 (Just one Drop) and maybe explain a bit more about her.
I will say that this is a great read if you love the laugh, cry and hang on the edge of your seat, so if you like those things get reading this series.
Oh and one last thought..is it just me or does anyone else want a werewolf boyfriend so they can do this:
minus the leash of course as I am sure that would not be appreciated hahaha
