Blood of the Sorcerer (The Kingdom Chronicles 2)

Blood of the Sorcerer (The Kingdom Chronicles 2)
by B.C Morin
Rating: 5/5

Goodreads Summary:
Love will be tested, great powers will emerge, secrets will be revealed, and hearts will break over a death no one saw coming….
Princess Alannah hoped that upon her arrival in Anrad, things would begin to look up. But she comes to find that the warrior fae that she has fallen in love with is truly the Prince of Anrad and has been betrothed to another by his dying father. Isibeal, his betrothed, is beautiful, strong, and hiding a secret that Alannah is determined to reveal.
Adding to her worries, her sister Evyette has set off on a journey to uncover her increasingly mysterious past. Finally discovering who she is and where she came from, Evyette will find that some things are better left unknown. As Tristan and Kaleb help Eveytte through this discovery, she is yanked from their clutches by Samil who has volunteered her as the final sacrifice for him to remain in this realm.

Will Alannah succeed in her training at the hands of Master Jadoc, the Elder Faerie and still make it in time to join Tristan and Kaleb in stopping Samil? Will Brennus go against his dying father's last request and follow his heart?

My Review:
I received this book free from the author in exchange for and honest review and I have to say THANK YOU B.C. Morin this book was AMAZING better than the first and so much fun to read. I was so invested in these characters and the wonderful world that was created I just could not put this book down and if you have not started this series my recommendation that you get book one (Mark of the Princess) so that you can read this one next :)
*SPOILER ALERT*
Okay so this was a very emotional book for me after reading book one I was very invested in these characters and the cliffhanger at the end made me want to know the fate of Alannah and Brennus and I had many face palm moments wishing Brennus would stop being so stubborn and just be with Alannah I know he was trying to honor his father but come on they are meant for each other  and then that ending OMG OMG OMG how can I be left hanging like that again
that was how I felt when I realized I read the last page and I need to read the next book so badly.
The rest of the characters were just as exciting and complex. Kaleb, Tristan and Evyette were a fun threesome and Kaleb falling for Evyette was something I did not see coming I am interested to see were that goes.
I think my face looked like this dogs several times in the story so much happens so much information so much heartache and even the death of someone I could have never predicted.
I have to say this book has definitely made the top of my list the world described is so real I want to live in it and all these characters with all their good and bad have pulled me in and I cant wait to continue.
Once again thank you to the author for allowing me to read this fantastic story of adventure, love, heartache, loss and even a little victory.
Happy Reading Friends!!

Starcrossed (Starcrossed #1)

Starcrossed (Starcrossed #1) by Josephine Angelini
 Rating: 5/5

Goodreads Summary:
How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

My Review:
Okay so I got this book a long time ago and I am so so so so mad at myself that I did not read this sooner it was simply fantastic. I love Greek mythology and this one did not disappoint it was great from page one right to the end. I just fell so much excitement for this book I don't really now what to say but I am gonna give it a shot.
I simply loved Helen she was a very well rounded character who just got better as the pages turned and the history of Helen of Troy and how it affected her was fantastic and oh so tragic I loved how they story flowed and revealed the small bits making me think I knew what was gonna happen and then BAM the book goes in a whole new direction.Lucas was great and I was so heartbroken by his and Helen's love story that on my next day off I will be on my way to the bookstore to get the next books and sit down and root for them to be together I just can't believe how many people are trying to keep them apart but I will keep the faith and root for true love. The rest of the characters that rounded out the book were all so awesome I want to live in that big house with them all it seemed like a lot of fun even with all the drama that surrounded them they found a way to have fun and then become great warriors and fight to the death for family and love well not all were good *SPOILER ALERT* what was up with Helen's mom what a bitch I just don't get it and I want to know what her deal is I hope more is revealed about her and her crazy plan filled with lies.
If you are as crazy as me and you waited to read this do not wait anymore it is the whole package and you will not be disappointed the new take on the descendants of Greek Gods was perfect and so was this book so go and read it now!!!!!

Light & Dark: The Awakening of the Mageknight (Light & Dark #1) by D.M. Fife
Rating: 4/5

My Review:
I received  this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review so here goes.... I really liked this book it was an interesting concept and although I had a few harry potter flashbacks at the beginning it was a very small portion that was alike. Elves, Dwarves, Wizards, Dragons, Swords and so many other things rolled  into the old world charm that goes along with it made this a very fun and exciting read, also I must add the sword fighting was very good I don't know what it is but I love a good ol' sword fight :)
Young Danny plays a card game called Knights but the game becomes very real when Sabrina Drake shows up at his school and Danny and his friends learn of the gift of sight and decide to become a knight of the Light. There is something big on the horizon but that helps Danny have many friends with him at his training I liked all the characters but Danny and Chris were my favorite they had a very strong friendship which I found very cute and I know that Chris will be a big part of the journey now faced by Danny and all the people of the Light. I really liked that Danny was just a regular kid but at the same time when it was needed he was very brave and very loyal even to a fault a bit but I wont spoil anything that is the best part of the whole thing the secrets and the mystery of the Mageknight I am very interested to see what will happen with all of that, well and I want to know what will happen with Danny and Sabrina they would be cute together and something tells me Danny will not give up.
I liked the pace of this story it moved quickly but not to quick if that makes sense most of all the sword fights they were done in such a way they that they were not to wordy but I still had a good picture of what was going on, overall a very good book with an interesting concept that I am indeed invested in I look forward to the next installment. If I had one bad thing to say it would be that some of the names were a bit much I know that the elves are old and so are the lightborn families but Im just saying maybe get a nickname or something to help the humans lol.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this book I was entertained and enjoyed the ride with these characters.

A Little about the Author:
Daniel M. Fife was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 27, 1978. He began writing Light & Dark: The Awakening of the Mageknight during his years as a graduate student at Ball State University under the major of Counseling Psychology. What began as a simple hobby quickly turned into something more as he found a passion for writing. While carrying the schedule of a full-time student as well as working a part-time job, he devoted himself to write at least one page a day. After graduating in 2007, he received the opportunity to begin practicing psychology as a counselor at a local private practice the very same year. His devotion to writing did not waiver. Working a full time schedule and maintaining a full complement of clients, he maintained his dedication. Eon (Eon #1) by Allison Goodman
Rating: 3/5

My Review:
I started reading this last December and it wasn't terrible but it didn't wow me and with so many other books on the shelf I put it down expecting to go back to it soon, well that didn't happen so when my monthly challenge called for the oldest book on your TBR list I rediscovered this all over. I gave it 3 stars because I did enjoy the book but I found the beginning slow and hard to get through so I would say I liked it but I did not love it.  I think the main reason I found the beginning slow was that the world that was created was so detailed that I got a little lost and maybe my limited knowledge of the  Chinese/Japanese culture was a hinder to my enjoyment of the story.
My biggest problem with this book was Eon/Eona I found her a bit cowardly and weak she held everything to herself even after all the things people had done and risked for her, I dunno maybe they would have been more forgiving if she had been upfront with her closest friends or even her master, she wanted the power of her dragon so badly but refused to accept that being the mirror dragoneye came with the responsibility of protecting the realm. I guess all main characters can't be strong and fearful but I just wish she had been even a little more into the whole thing, although I will say after a while, a lot of pain and a few deaths she did come into her own a bit and maybe book 2 will show her true nature.
The last quarter of the book picked up and the battle and discovery of many things was exciting and full of vital information and even a stronger Eona, so even though I wasn't WOWED overall it was a pretty good read and I may not be in a big rush to read the next one but I am a little curious to see what happens so maybe yes maybe no to book 2 i have not decided yet.

Obsidian (Lux #1)

Goodreads Summary:
Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is

Obsidian (Lux 1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Rating: 5/5

My Review:
I had heard so many GREAT things about this book and decided I should give it a go. Aliens are not really my thing, I did read The Host and I really enjoyed that so I figured what the hay lets see what happens and let me tell you my expectations were met and then some. I could not put this book down and when I did because stupid life activities demanded me to I found myself still thinking about it trying to unravel the mystery in my head. well to tell you the truth I did a lot more thinking about Daemon than I did anything else, as I am sure many others can relate to I just wanted him to show up at my door with no shirt on arrogance and all just as long as he was around and shirtless *SIGH*.
This book was beautifully written it held my attention from page one all the way to the last and I was sooo happy when I got to the end and found the few chapters written in Daemons point of view if I hadn't been so in love with him before that would have done it, I love that he cares so much about his sister and even when he is being an asshole most of the time he has a reason for it. I thought Katy was a very relate able she was shy and reserved yet something about Daemon brought out a different side and the two of them together could be unstoppable if only they both were not so stubborn.
That first kiss was so hot and spicy I had to put the book down and collect myself for a moment and after that I was day dreaming of a kiss that good (shhh our little secret) I hope they can finally be together in the next book and I can not wait to see what happens next.
Overall a super fantastic read and if you have not read this (although I know I am one of the last to get on the band wagon of this series) then I suggest you get it NOW!!!!!
oh and one more thing this cover DAAAMMMNN sooooo hot!!!!
Happy Reading Friends!!!!!

Uglies (Uglies 1)

Uglies (Uglies 1)
by Scott Westerfeld
Rating: 4 /5
Goodreads Summary:
Tally Youngblood is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait for the operation that turns everyone from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is to party. But new friend Shay would rather hoverboard to "the Smoke" and be free. Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world and it isn't very pretty. The "Special Circumstances" authority Dr Cable offers Tally the worst choice she can imagine: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever

My Review:
I am a big fan of dystopian books and I saw all the rave reviews form friends on Goodreads and I started this book with high expectations and I was not let down. I gave it 4 and not 5 stars because there were parts of it I found a bit predictable, that being said there still were a few surprises waiting for me....OMG the ending I did not see that coming!! I found myself deep in thought about the concept of this book and even told my sister the plot(she is not a reader so she let me spoil it) so that we could have a serious talk about everyone being "pretty" I just could not imagine myself thinking that this was okay, but then again I don't live in uglyville so I have not been conditioned to think this way, as unbelievable as I found it I also felt a bit like are we really that different? like I said I thought a lot about this while reading and even after.
I liked the dynamic of Shay and Tally they both enjoyed a good "trick" yet their vision for the future was so much different that it gave a nice overview of the two points of view on becoming "pretty". David was a great character so knowledgeable about life in the smoke yet so clueless about real city life besides what he has been told from others. I knew he would get to Tally eventually he had this quite assurance that you just couldn't help but trust , the slow simmer of their romance was so cute and I am rooting for them all the way .
Things picked right up for me after Maddy and Az explained their reasons for leaving the city, every page after that more exciting than the last. I have many books on the TBR list (don't we all) so Pretties may have to wait until the new year but ya never know it has been catching my eye on the shelf.
One of my favorite lines in the book was:
"Your personality- the real you inside- was the price of beauty"
I went out and bought the rest of the series because of that line I love the message behind it and I can't wait to see what happens next.
If you like an exciting dystopian read then go out and pick this one up!
Happy Reading Friends!!!!

Red

Red
by Kait Nolan
Rating: 5/5
Goodreads Summary:
Every fairy tale has a dark side...

Elodie Rose has a secret. Any day, she’ll become a wolf and succumb to the violence that’s cursed her family for centuries. For seventeen years she’s hidden who and what she is. But now someone knows the truth and is determined to exterminate her family line. But Sawyer is determined to protect her, and the brooding, angry boy is more than what he seems. Can they outsmart a madman? And if they survive, will they find a way to beat the curse for good?

My Review:
I've had this book on my Kobo for a while but when I caught sight of it and remembered it was about werewolves (which I am a big fan of) I dove right in, plus the cover is so dark and beautiful at the same time that it drew me in. The book was awesome I was pulled in right away and I just couldn't get enough, and just a little tid bit of info for ya I really liked the names of the main characters (Elodie and Sawyer)
**Some Spoilers**
I have a terrible soft spot for sexy werewolf books and this one was great.  The story was a bit different then ones I have read before, Elodie thinks that she is cursed and is preparing for her death which she believes will happen soon like all of her ancestors before her, then along comes Sawyer (on my I was sooo in love with him lol!) and he changes everything now they must run from the hunter to save Elodie and those around her.
I felt bad for Elodie being passed down  a bunch of lies and her poor father loving his daughter but also afraid of what she may become both unaware that it is not so scary and simple as they may think. Now Sawyer he was fantastic he had a sexy dark and brooding side and he had a lot of anger which made his wolf hard to control especially when it came to Elodie's safety he was so protective of her, which is by far my favorite  part of werewolves which seems to be present in all werewolf book. I just could not get enough of him this is all I could picture:
I know I know wrong werewolf, but he totally deserves the shout out hahaha.
The whole hunter part of the story was exciting and when the hunter was revealed (won't spoil that one for you it's a brain blower) and Elodie said:
"Maybe Superman's disguise wasn't so stupid after all"
it was the perfect line, I was so shocked about the reveal and then I was laughing out loud at the awesomeness of this line, plus the nerd inside me then rethought my position on superhero disguises :).
The writing was really well done especially when they were changing it was almost like I could feel it. The last chapters were the best they just kept building and building and just when I thought everything had been revealed.....BAM there was more. The ending was perfect and I am very glad I read this book.
Happy Reading Friends!!!

Destined (House of Night #9)

Destined (House of Night 9)
by P.C. Cast + Kristin Cast
Rating: 4/5
Goodreads Summary:

Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together – if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow…

And then there’s the mysterious Aurox, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous teen boy who is actually more – or possibly less – than human. Only Neferet knows he was created to be her greatest weapon. But Zoey can sense the part of his soul that remains human, the compassion that wars with his Dark calling. And there’s something strangely familiar about him…

Will Neferet’s true nature be revealed before she succeeds in silencing them all? And will Zoey be able to touch Aurox’s humanity in time to protect him – and everyone – from his own fate? Find out what’s destined in the next thrilling chapter of the House of Night series.

My Review:
** spoiler alert **
Overall a good book I enjoyed yet another fun read of the house of night series. I have to admit that it has been a while since I have read one of these, I read I think 6 in a row and I needed a bit of a break and it took me a few chapters to put the story back together but it was easy to pick up and to follow in the new adventure.
Zoey and her friends battle darkness and Neferet and they find a few alias that I hope will be the key to her undoing I am very over her and all her Bullpoopie just expose her already I don't get how no one sees it although I guess I am a bit bias as most of the story is from the point of view of "good" , I like that both sides are points of view giving a very good inside for the reader. This being book 9 a lot has happened and I hope that some things can soon be resolved.
I am not sure how I feel about the whole Heath thing I hope it doesn't mess up Zoey and Stark I like them together and they deserve to just be happy and move on after everything I mean he went to the underworld after her how can anyone else be more important but hey I am not her.
The next one is waiting on the shelf and I am interested in what will happen next!!!
Happy Reading Friends!!!

Into the Night is a young adult paranormal fantasy novel, suitable for readers 16+. It is the first in a series.

My Review:
I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review in a read to review challenge and I am so glad I got to be a part of this because this book was fantastic, full of mystery, drama, secrets and even a little romance, I was pulled in from page one and loved the journey this book took me on. I cried a few times, laughed and was shocked over and over just a simply awesome read.
***SPOILER ALERT****

I loved the idea behind the story... 20 year old Logan is in desperate need of a job and he finds work at the Estate filled with supernatural creatures, he is skeptical at first but on fight night he can deny it no longer, he then becomes a part of the weird high school like building that mixes humans and supernaturals together. The intertwining of characters was perfect and slowly it became apparent that they had more in common then they knew with Penny at their core bringing the most unlikely group of people together to try and bring an end to the cruelty of the Estate.
My heart broke for Penny and Zane the more I learned about them the more I wanted them to be together it seemed they would be so good together yet the impending doom of her death made her keep her distance and I felt even worse when it lead to her ultimate demise....or was it? What a cliffhanger dang you I NEED MORE!!!! I have so many questions I can not wait for the next adventure.
This book was written with fantastic description I felt like I was there the whole time it wasn't to much like I have found with other books it was the perfect amount to paint a beautiful picture but not so much that I became board, It was just right!!!!
As a final thought I would like to say overall I loved this book and all the characters inside, but I also want to say when I was reading every once in a while the song Hotel California kept popping up "You can check out but you can never leave" just thought that was worth mentioning hahaha.
This is by far a must read for all thank you again to the author for the read to review I really enjoyed it!!!!

The Star Dwellers (The Dwellers 2)

The Star Dwellers (The Dwellers 2)
by David Estes
Rating: 5/5
Summary:
After rescuing her father and younger sister, Adele is forced to leave her family and Tristan behind to find her mother in the cruel and dangerous realm of the star dwellers.
Amidst blossoming feelings for Adele, Tristan must cast his feelings aside and let her find her own way amongst the star dwellers, while he accompanies Adele's father to meet with the leaders of the moon dwellers and decide the fate of the Tri-Realms.
Will Adele be able to rescue her mother and make it back to the Moon Realm before the President and the sun dweller soldiers destroy her family?
Can Tristan convince the moon dweller puppets of the error of their ways?
Was Adele's lost kiss with Tristan her one and only chance at love?
In her world there's only one rule: Someone must die.

My Review:
Be warned I will not be able to control myself and this review will contain spoilers!!
I received this book free from the author after being one of the first five to review book one in a read to review, I loved the first book and could not stop reading which worked in my favor getting me this fantastic read. The second installment of the series was just as good if not better than the first, I want to thank the author for giving me this book and encourage anyone to go out and get this series as it will be well worth your while. This is a wonderful story with beautiful writing and the most lovable characters, it is at the top of my list for recommended reads.
Just when Adele and Tristan are together with her father and sister, Adele must leave to save the last member of her family...her mother and Tristan must go and try to unite the star and moon realms against his evil father. Both on totally different paths yet working towards the same goal. This lead to so many revelations I didn't think my brain could handle it. Her parents were leaders of the rebellion which was supposed to be gone, her mother is now a general in the star dweller army and so much more, there were so many WHAT THE WHAT?? moments I just had to keep reading and find out what would could possibly be next and I was never disappointed.
So many new and interesting people I understood Adele's hesitant nature it was hard to know who to trust. I never saw the Brody thing coming and Trevor seemed off for a long time but I am glad to see that him and Ram are supporting then on their mission, I know Tristan will be able to prove himself to Ram and he will be a valuable asset.
Lots of great complex characters on both sides. Although of course the evil ones are just that pure evil and I hope the president gets whats coming to him what a sick man. On the other hand the "Good Guys" is a fantastic group each with their own strengths and weaknesses who have been through so much together in such a short time they now how to be there for each other  and lean on one another for support. Elsey was by far my favorite she is wise beyond her years yet was still able to hold onto innocence enough to keep things light when it seemed they could not get any darker, her ability to charm everyone she meets was so adorable and I know it was her choice of words that won everyone over, she is a girl after my own heart with her love of the old world and her eternal optimism even in the toughest times of their journey.
After reading these two wonderful books I fell like I know the characters and I can not wait to read the next one and find out the fate that awaits them and I hope they all get the revenge they seek. Thanks again David Estes for the wonderful read and again I say..GO GET THESE BOOKS AND GET READING!
Happy Reading Friends!!!!

My Review:
I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review and I am so happy I got to read this book it was just simply great and I want to thank David Estes for letting me read this great story and I cannot wait for more.
I loved this book it was exciting and fresh. I loved the world that was created for these characters it was full of surprises and adventure and I can not wait to see what happens next. I liked that it was told from the two points of view giving you insight to how much these two really are alike, even after growing up in very different worlds Adele a poor moon dweller sentenced to the pen and Tristen son of the president sentenced to a life he hates. they flee only to find each other and suffer many heartaches and victories.
I enjoyed these characters and I was heartbroken for them when they suffered so much in a short amount of time and I hope that the next adventures hold as much excitement but also a bit more triumph.
Tristen and Adele's first meeting was a perfect fit for this book and I had a laugh out loud moment thinking he kinda had it coming sneaking up on her like that hahaha.
I finished this book rather quickly as I just had to find out what happened next I loved the fast pace and I just could not get enough. Thank you again to the author for the opportunity to read this awesome books and I would recommend it to any one who wants to read a fun adventure.

For the Love of a Vampire (Blood Like Poison 1)

For the Love of a Vampire (Blood Like Poison 1)
by M. Leighton
Rating: 3.5 /5

Summary:
Like most seventeen year olds, Ridley Heller thought she had her future all planned out. What she wanted most in life was to get out of small town Harker. Her only goal was to keep her mouth shut and her grades high so she could win a cheerleading scholarship to Stanford. But that was before she met Bo.
In Ridley’s wildest dreams, she could never have planned for someone like Bo, for a love so intense it left her breathless. No human girl could.
A haunting stranger that watched her from afar, Bo stole Ridley’s heart from the moment she laid eyes on him. But he has secrets. Bo’s a vampire. Both his past and his present are a danger to Ridley, but the biggest threat is not her blood; it’s her heart. He’s feeding a thirst for revenge that will cost him his life, and it may already be too late.
The more darkness Ridley uncovers, the more she realizes that her life will never be the same—with or without Bo. Can she sacrifice her future and her heart for someone who has a death wish?

My Review:
I got this book free on amazon and I found the summary interesting and I thought I would give it a try it felt like a while since I had read a vampire book. I almost stopped reading a few times in the beginning mostly because it was so much like twilight I was having trouble getting over it. that being said once I got into it I noticed the similarities were few and far between and the book was fairly enjoyable.
I really liked that Ridley grew and developed throughout the story. She started off damaged and a little self serving, but meeting Bo changed the course of her life allowing her to become the person she never knew she had the potential to be but Bo knew was there all along. I think my favorite part was when she stood up to that bitch Trinity.
The origin story of the vampire's, how they are made and how they die was original and interesting and with the addition of poison (I won't tell you when, were, why ect. in case you want to give it a read) it made things mysterious and kept me reading.
The cliffhanger at the end was intense and it changed everything for me I did not see it coming at all, I really want to find out what happens next, I have so many questions and I will be on the lookout for book 2 (Destined for a Vampire).

Blood Red Road (Dustlands 1)

Blood Red Road (Dustlands 1)
by Moira Young
Rating: 4.5 /5

Summary:
Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. But when four cloaked horsemen capture Lugh, Saba's world is shattered, and she embarks on a quest to get him back.

Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the outside world, Saba discovers she is a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack and a gang of girl revolutionaries called the Free Hawks, Saba’s unrelenting search for Lugh stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization.

My Review:
I don't know what it is about this cover but as soon as I saw it at the store I was drawn to it and I picked it up only to have it sit on the shelf at home for a while, Finally being given the chance when my monthly challenge called for books starting with B,K or T and it caught my eye all over again and I am glad it did. I would have given this a full 5 stars as the story was really fantastic but the writing style really threw me off, there were no quotation marks and the spelling was awful to prove I guess that the characters were in another place and time, it had me struggling at first but when the story took off I was able to overlook it and really enjoy the story.
There were lots of great characters in this book. Saba strong and determined to find her brother is so reluctant to let anyone help her that she almost misses out on the great friends she finds in the free hawks and almost pushes Jack away, good thing no one including Emmi (Saba's sister) was willing to give up on her and all had a hand in helping her through the journey to find her brother.
I thought I had the whole story figured out and then the Pinches arrived and everything changed. I thought the Collosseum was an awesome addition to the story it brought lots of excitement and struggle and well as new characters and new information. I was sad Saba and Emmi had to go through it but I think they both needed to be hardened a bit before going out on the road.
The journey to freedom fields was very well done, a lot of obstacles to overcome and even enough time for Saba to realize Emmi isn't all  that bad and bring her and Jack closer together which I think was done very well. I can't mention Jack and Saba without saying the song that Jack sang to Saba was my favorite part of the whole book, it was funny and heartfelt at the same time and if he sang it to me I would be putty in his hands lol.
I can't wait to see what adventures they will go on next. Overall fantastic story with terrible grammar.

Short Stories

Over the past couple of weeks I have read a few short stories and since they are short there is not much to say usually so I thought I would put a few together her goes:

Before (Heven and Hell 0.5)
by Cambria Hebert
Rating: 4/5
Summary:
What if your life was charmed and everything in it was perfect…
Before.
This is the story of my past. Of what things were like for me when everything was normal. Of what every teenager’s life is like. Clothes. Parties. Boys and summer vacation. What’s so wrong with that? I liked it. I was happy.
Until things changed. I changed.
I didn’t know that lies and secrets were about to take over my existence. I didn’t know there was someone out there, someone meant just for me. I didn’t know that I was about to go on a journey, a journey that would lead me to the girl I am today.
This is the beginning of the worst year of my life. Would I go back and change things? Erase everything that has happened to go back into these moments?
Not a chance.
This is a story of before.
My Review:
This is short story part of the Heven and Hell series, I did not know that when I got it free I just wanted a free book lol but I was pleasantly surprised when I decided to give it a go. It was full of secret love and loyalty and I was pulled in to find out more and on my next trip for new books this series has moved itself up to the top with this short story.

My Review:
I am not much for ghost stories and as another free read I thought I would give it a try. It was okay not great but not terrible either it was an interesting story and had a bit of excitement but I was not wowed and that is that.

My Review:
This was a fantastic short read and my only regret is that I do not have more parts of this short story series. The idea behind this story was very cool and I can not wait to learn more about Chloe and the journey she will face to learn her new place in the world and avenge her mothers death. Very very good writing I loved it.

Well those are my short stories Happy Reading Friends!!!!

Beautiful Demons (Peachville High Demons 1)

Beautiful Demons (Peachville High Demons 1)
by Sarra Cannon
Rating: 5/5

Summary:
Harper Madison isn't like other girls. She has extraordinary powers, but her inability to control them has gotten her kicked from so many foster homes she's lost count. Shadowford Home is her last chance, and she hopes Peachville High will be the fresh start she needs. But when evidence ties her to the gruesome murder of a Demons cheerleader, Harper discovers this small town has a big secret.

My Review:
I had this on my Kobo for a while but the November book challenge was to read books that start with B,K or T and it gave me the perfect excuse to get reading, The mystery and suspense of the new town, new people and Harper's past had me instantly pulled in and I found myself looking for any excuse to read this book.
I really hope that Harper gets her memory back and she fights for what she wants I feel bad that her losing her memory meant that her and Jackson never really got a chance I really liked him and although Drake seems nice I think there is something up with him and I am worried about what will happen if she gets to close.
I think this book was a great start to what I think will be an awesome series I will definatly be reading the next ones so many questions I need answered. The killer was not who I expected and I was impressed with the misdirection I was way off. SO excited for whats next!

Mark Of The Princess (The Kingdom Chronicles 1)

Mark Of The Princess (The Kingdom Chronicles 1)
by B.C. Morin
Rating: 5/5

Summary:

With Brennus by her side, Alannah is determined to reach the Elder Faeries and save her people. Maligo is just as determined she never makes it that far.

My Review:
The rave reviews for this book were everywhere and I had high expectations going in and I was not disappointed instantly swept into an amazing story of Love, Dark magic, Secrets and dangerous forest adventures. The flow from one point of view to another was written so seamlessly I didn't even notice at first. I was very impressed with the writing it was so well done I just loved it.
There was so much drama and excitement right off the bat and it continued at a fantastic pace throughout the whole book, weaving friendship and love with dark magic and curious creatures of the forest. I just cant boast enough about the wonderful writing in this book.
I was very pleased with how the love triangle was written and how Alannah handled herself in the situation. Brennus the strong warrior fae and Kaleb the handsome prince are very different and she knows it I was glad she was honest with them both but I must say I am a sucker for a bad boy every time and the twist at the end left me very curious about how it will affect many different things so so so so excited for the next book I cant wait to get more answers.
Every character big and small were fantastic and the wonderful land of fae was to full of fantasy and folklore I just could not get enough I felt like I lived there and I never wanted to leave. I would recommend this book to anyone I know I absolutely loved everything about it so get yourself a copy and get reading.

Outside In (Insider 2)

Outside In (Insider 2)
by Maria V. Snyder
Rating: 3.5/5

Summary:
  Me?  A leader?
Okay, I did prove that there's more to Inside than we knew. That a whole world exists beyond this cube we live in. And finding that led to a major rebellion—between worker scrubs like me and the snobby uppers who rule our world. Make that ruled. Because of me, we're free. I thought that meant I was off the hook, and could go off on my own again—while still touching base with Riley, of course. He's the one upper I think I can trust. But then we learned that there's outside and then there is Outside
And something from Outside wants In

My Review:
I actually bought the double issue of this series with both novels but I read them on two different occasions instead of one after the other, I probably wanted to do a challenge haha. I did really enjoy book one it was full of many surprises and a great story, I was not as impressed by book two. I didn't hate it, but I wasn't jumping up and down either, it was as they say so-so.
Trella led the rebellion and discovered many secrets about Inside in book one, now she wants nothing to so with the new council or the changes of Inside and I think that's what upset me the most. Trella was always the reluctant leader but I thought seeing all the changes and wanting to make cogan proud would have given her a push, sadly it did not.
There were some good and exciting parts and about halfway through Trella did get it together and things did get much better. I enjoyed the second half and the introduction of the outsiders.
I don,t have much else to say about this book it ended well and overall was pretty good.
